For newcomers,  who am I?

I am a Director of PREST (Policy Research in Engineering Science and Technology), an Institute of the University of Manchester, as well as being a CRIC CoDirector.  Before coming to Manchester in 1990, I was for 18 years a researcher at SPRU (the Science Policy Research Unit) at the University of Sussex. Before this I received a first class honours BSc in Psychology at Manchester, and carried out research in social psychology.  My research interests include innovation studies, foresight, indicators (social indicators and S&T data) and service sectors.  E-commerce is a recent theme, and I have been finding myself doing much more work on information technology, foresight and service innovation over recent years.

I have numerous publications spanning these areas - have a look at the publications list!

I am putting various unpublished papers and presentations on this site, and adding to these regularly - so have a look at the download options too.  (A few publications on the long list are available from other sites, too.  In due course hyperlinks will be comprehensively provided.)
