ESRC Project on Genomics and Society

CRIC worked with the Institute for Alternative Futures (IAF) to run a scenario workshop for the ESRC, in January 2002. The aim was to help inform decisions being made as to funding a centre for social science research on genomics. In the course of preparing for the workshop, four reports were produced, three by IAF and one by CRIC.

Four reports were used for this Project and are available below in Adobe Acrobat pdf format:

Key Drivers of Genomics: Forecasts to 2015 (106Kb) - IAF outline Ten drivers affecting the development of genomics and its applications;
Genomics and Social Science (139Kb) – CRIC uses the ESRC's Thematic Priorities, to develop questions and forecasts related to genomics, highlighting the issues raised for social science;
Genomics and Society: Four Scenarios for 2015 (73Kb) – IAF presents four scenarios for the development of genomics to 2015.
Overview and Forecasts of the Applications of Genomics (107Kb) - IAF provides background for the project, particularly for those less familiar with genomics, as well as forecasts for genomic applications in agriculture, human health, the environment and other sectors.
