Lord Sainsbury, the UK Science Minister, unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the Institute of Innovation Research (IoIR), and then opened the ASEAT 2003 Conference with a 45 minute lecture in which he talked both about the broad objectives of UK science and technology policy, and of the important role of science and technology policy research in raising the standard of governance in this area. The lecture was followed by twenty minutes in which the minister took questions from an audience of STP researchers from around the world, assembled for the ASEAT 2003 Conference, hosted by the Institute partners. Further details of the ASEAT 2003 Conference including downloadable papers can be found on-line.
