Manchester is a brilliant city to visit, with a lot of rich cultural experiences of all kinds (clubs, pubs, galleries, museums). It is well-located for access to historic sites (Lancaster and York are 90 minutes by train) and beautiful countryside (Hope in the Peak District is 30 minutes by rail and Windermere in the Lake District, and North Wales both 90 minutes). Take the weekend to explore these locations - they will reward you with a very different view of England than that available from the usual tours of London, Oxford, and Stratford!
